Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles have launched the new Jawa 42 FJ at Rs 1.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Jawa 42 is a sportier and more powerful model in the ‘42’ lineup. It features several changes over the other Jawa 42 motorcycles.
The design, to begin with, has a modern retro theme. This is evident from the tear drop-shaped fuel tank with an aluminium plate on the side. The side panel is similar to ones on the other Jawa 42s, keeping with the brand's history. The fenders are also quite neatly styled with the characteristic Jawa tail light protruding from the rear fender.
Other bits about the design, like the multi-spoke alloy wheels, the blacked-out engine and the upswept exhaust pipes add to the sporty elements of the bike. The base model, meanwhile, has wire-spoke wheels. On the whole, the Jawa 42 FJ looks good, especially in the five colour options that it is available in.
In terms of features, the bike gets LED lights, USB charging port and a single-pod, digital instrument cluster.
The Jawa 42 FJ is powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 28.7bhp and 29.62Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and has a slip-and-assist clutch.
The bike employs a steel cradle chassis that is suspended by a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers. Braking duties are taken care of by a 320mm disc brake at the front and a disc brake rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard.
Bookings for the new Jawa 42 FJ are open and deliveries are set to commence soon.
