- Jawa range has three models
- Jawa and Jawa Forty Two are ‘standard’ range
- Custom is in the bobber format, will retail at Rs 1.89 lakh
Classic Legends has launched the Jawa range of motorcycles. It is divided into three models, the Jawa (Rs 1.64 lakhs), the Jawa Forty Two (Rs 1.55 lakh), and the Jawa Perak ‘factory custom’ (Rs 1.89 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom.
The Jawa and Jawa Forty Two share their powertrain – a 293cc liquid-cooled single cylinder DOHC engine that is bundled into a double cradle chassis. The engine generates 27bhp and 28Nm, and goes through a 6-speed gearbox. The front wheel is an 18 inch rim while the rear is a 17 inch one. In keeping with its retro looks, the tyres aren’t very wide – the front is a 90/90 - 18 while the rear is a 120/80 – 17. Braking is provided by a 280mm front disc brake with a floating calliper and the rear brake sticks to its retro brief, being a 153mm drum brake. Single channel ABS is standard. The Jawas weigh 170kg and the tank capacity is 14 litres, which should give them range on par with the competition. The Jawa will be available in three colours – maroon, grey and black. The Forty Two will be available in six colours – red, dark blue, light blue, matt blue, green, and light green. The Forty Two is a modern classic, which distinguishes itself from the standard Jawa with the colours, bar-end mirrors, offset instrument cluster, and a slightly different riding position. Bookings have opened online, and there are 105 Jawa dealers across the country. Deliveries will begin early next year.
The Jawa Perak has a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that generates 30bhp and 31Nm, and bookings haven’t opened yet.
