Jawa recently launched the Perak in India, a year after it was showcased at the launch of the brand. While you can ogle at the images in our other report, here we bring to you the top five highlights of the Jawa Perak.
Custom bobber styling
The Perak’s styling has been inspired by bobber motorcycles from the ‘70s. It gets long exhaust pipes, a lowered stance, chopped front and rear fenders. But the highlight of its styling is the ‘floating’ seat which gives the Perak a distinctive, hardtail look.
Moreover, Jawa has completed the bobber’s design with the blacked-out components. The headlamp bezel, engine, exhaust, wheels and even the levers have been finished in black lending the Jawa Perak a custom bobber appeal.
Bigger and more powerful engine
In between the Jawa Perak’s double cradle frame is a bigger 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine. This motor is BS-VI compliant and churns out 30bhp of power and 31Nm of torque. And similar to the standard Jawa, it comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
New rear suspension
While most of its cycle parts have been shared with the standard Jawa, the Perak sports a monoshock at the rear which is preload-adjustable. At the front, it uses telescopic forks. On the other hand, braking hardware comprises of a single disc at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Colour options
The Jawa Perak is available only in one colour option. It gets a matte black shade with gold highlights in the form of the ‘Jawa’ logo and pinstripes on the fuel tank.
Pricing
The company has pegged the Perak at Rs 1.94 lakhs (ex-showroom). At this price tag, the motorcycle costs a premium of Rs 30,000 over the Jawa standard. In terms of competition, the motorcycle will go up against the Royal Enfield Classic 500 in the country.
