- Jawa Standard and Forty-Two BS6 deliveries commence
- Official launch was announced in March 2020
- Demand a premium of up to Rs 9,928 over their BS4 counterparts
Classic Legends has commenced the deliveries of the BS6-compliant Jawa Standard and Forty-Two through its dealerships across India. The company had launched the updated models of these bikes in March 2020 and they demand a premium of around Rs 5,000-9,928 over their BS4 counterparts.
The Jawa Standard and Forty-Two BS6 are available with single-channel and dual-channel ABS options and in different colour schemes with varying prices. The prices of the Standard BS6 start at Rs 1,73,164 (black colour, single ABS) and go up to Rs 1,83,170 (maroon, dual ABS). Meanwhile, the price of the more affordable Forty-Two BS6 starts at Rs 1,60,300 (Haley’s Teal colour, single ABS) and goes up Rs 1,74,170 (red, green, blue colours with dual ABS).
The modern-classic styling of the Standard and Forty-Two hasn’t changed with the BS6 transition. What’s revised is the 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with cross port technology which is claimed to reduce emissions while keeping the power figures intact. Notably, Jawa claims this is the first single-cylinder engine which features cross port configuration. However, the BS6 models produce lesser power and torque at 26.14bhp and 27.05Nm, which is down from BS4's 27bhp and 28Nm. Moreover, Jawa has also worked on enhancing comfort by tweaking the seat pan and cushioning.
The Jawa Standard and Forty-Two BS6 compete against the popular Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
