- Jawa Perak bookings to begin on 1 January 2020
- Limited bookings will be accepted in the first slot
- Deliveries to begin from 2 April as per the booking sequence
Jawa is all set to commence bookings of its new bobber-styled motorcycle, the Perak, in India tomorrow, 1 January 2020. The company will accept limited bookings in the first slot, the deliveries for which will begin from 2 April, as per the booking sequence. The Perak was unveiled on 15 November 2018 while the official launch took place last month at a sticker price of Rs 1.94 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Perak boasts of a quintessential old-school bobber styling with a long wheelbase and a low-slung profile. It sports a round headlamp with a wide and flat handlebar, carrying circular bar-end mirrors. The peanut-shaped fuel tank blends with a brown-coloured floating-styled seat, which is the highlight of the overall styling. Lastly, a number of blacked-out components such as the engine, exhaust and wheel rims give the Perak a modern touch.
Underpinned by a double cradle frame, the motorcycle is powered by a BS6-compliant, 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is slightly larger than that of the standard and Forty-Two. This motor churns out 30bhp of power and 31Nm of torque while it comes mated to a six speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by conventional forks up front and a monoshock at the rear while braking is handled by disc brake at both ends, assisted by dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Jawa Perak has been introduced in a single paint scheme comprising of matte black shade with golden highlights. Considering its scrambler styling and displacement, the Perak has no direct competition in India yet.
