The first four stages of the India Baja 2017 saw a lot of action in the Moto category. The 290kms special stages saw some drama and crashes which led to discontinuation of a few riders from day 1.
Flagged off at 6am, 32 motorcycle participants started from Majid ki Basti before concluding at Bandha. Stage two is where the endurance aspects of each riders were tested as they rode through the sand dunes of Asu Tar. This is where most of the crashes took place but at the same time a lot of riders went aggressive on the throttle to make up for the lost time in the first stage. At the end of stage four in Bhuwana, only 15 riders managed to reach. Rest DNF due to crashes and mechanical problems.
Joaquim Rodrigues from Hero MotoSports is the one leading the chart at the end of day 1. Aravind KP and Abdul Tanveer stood second and third respectively. Adrien Metge had a disappointing day one as he couldn’t finish the stage four due to mechanical failure. Sarah Kashyap who started in the 20th position couldn’t make it past the third stage due to mechanical problems.
Day 2 will see 13 riders starting from Bhuwana and ride for almost 89kms before ending up at Mangaliyawas. The sixth stage will begin at Turkon Ki Basti and end at Majid Ki Basti with a distance of 52.21kms.
