Kawasaki has started accepting pre-bookings of the new ZX-6R in India for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs. The company will be making limited units in the first lot for India and it will stop accepting bookings after reaching a particular figure. The pre-bookings are open from 31 October to 30 November.
The India launch of the bike is expected by January 2019 and the final pricing will be announced at the same time. Kawasaki hasn’t given out the full-specifications of the new ZX-6R as of now and it will be revealing them at the 2018 EICMA.
The new Kawasaki ZX-6R is powered by a 636cc, in-line four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed gearbox and the unit is now compliant with Euro 5 emission norms. The motorcycle gets a host of electronic features including KIBS (Kawasaki intelligent anti-lock braking system), KTRC (Kawasaki traction control), KQS (Kawasaki quick shifter) and LED headlamps and tail lamps.
The new Kawasaki ZX-6R will come to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and it will be locally assembled at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune. The motorcycle faces no competition in India as the four-cylinder supersport segment is vacant here.
