Kawasaki D-Tracker introduced in Thailand

Kawasaki D-Tracker 250

Kawasaki has introduced the on/off-road dual purpose enduro motorcycle, the D-Tracker, in Thailand. The bike is available in 125cc, 150cc and 250cc engine capacities.

The D-Tracker 250 stands tall with 110/70-17 sized tyre in the front and a 130/70-17 sized one at the rear with a ground clearance of 225mm. On account of these dual purpose tyres and a lot of suspension travel at the front, the sturdy looking motorcycle should ensure better stability over rough surfaces and extremely hard terrains.

The bikes get a 250mm petal disc at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear. With a 7.7-litre tank, the bike weighs only 139 kg. The 2014 model of the D-Tracker boasts of the most essential features that off-road motorcycles come equipped with. The 125cc and 150cc variants get 14-inch wheels.

The 250cc variant of the D-Tracker is powered by a single cylinder 249cc DOHC four-valve liquid cooled engine that produces 29bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 25Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. The 150cc trim is powered by a 144cc single cylinder motor that produces 11.7bhp at 8,000rpm and 12Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The lowest capacity 125cc motorcycle is powered by a 124cc single cylinder mill that churns out 10.3bhp at 8,000rpm and 10Nm at 6,400rpm.

The Kawasaki D-Tracker 250 is priced at THB 156,300 (Rs 2.95 lakh) and the D-Tracker 125 is priced at THB 89,500 (Rs 1.69 lakh). The prices may sound a bit expensive to an Indian customer, but for the design of the bike that should make the rider comfortably take on the difficult road conditions in our country, the buyer might think of the two-wheeler as a value for money product. Furthermore, if Kawasaki plans to launch these bikes in the Indian bike market at an aggressive price, they might even create a cult following for off-road enthusiasts as well.
