Kawasaki India has launched the Ninja 1000 in the Indian market for Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). It is the fifth Ninja moniker product to be sold in the country after the 300R and the 650R and will be brought to the country via the CBU route. It shares the same engine with the Z1000 but has been remapped for a less aggressive delivery.
It gets an aggressive design as compared to its sibling the Z1000 due to the faring. However, it has the familiar Ninja design that is found on the 650R and the much smaller 300R. Standard features include rubber-topped footpegs, adjustable windscreen, analogue tachometer attached to an LCD screen.
The Ninja 1000 is powered by an inline four liquid cooled 1043cc engine that produces 142bhp and 111nm of torque. It has been mated to a six-speed sequential via a chain drive. Underpinned by an aluminium frame, the front gets 41mm inverted front fork with dual 300mm petal disc while the rear has a horizontal monoshock and a single 250mmpetal type rotor. The Ninja 1000 is being offered with Kawasaki’s power mode selector and three-stage traction control (KTRC) with former being able to work independently of the latter.
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is currently being offered only in a single colour Candy Lime Green but we expect that the other two shades Pearl Stardust White and Metallic Spark Black will be brought to India at a later date.
