We were the first ones to report about the Kawasaki Z800 launch in early 2014 and today, the company launched this naked motorcycle at Rs 7.9 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). This makes Z800 the second motorcycle from the ‘Z’ series after the mean Z1000 that was launched last December.
The Japanese maker launched the Z800 at the inauguration of its second exclusive dealership in Delhi today. The bike will be sold as a completely-built-up (CBU) model and the company is aiming to sell around 200 units. Kawasaki has allocated 100 units each, to be sold from Delhi and Pune showroom respectively. The Delhi showroom has managed to receive around 14 bookings for the Z800 till now, which is quite impressive.
The Kawasaki Z800 is powered by the 806cc liquid-cooled inline four cylinder engine that generates 113PS of peak power at 10,200rpm and 83Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and the bike has a top speed of 233 kmph. It gets a full digital instrumentation displaying tons of information. The bike looks very aggressive but not as much as the Z1000 which is currently the meanest looking motorcycle sold in India.
After the addition of the Z800, Kawasaki India has extended its product portfolio to six motorcycles namely the Ninja 300, Ninja 650, Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-14R, Z1000 and the Z800. All these models have been launched in India in the last year, clearly showing the seriousness of this Japanese manufacturer.
