India Kawasaki Motors may bring the Versys 1000 and the ER-6n motorcycles to India next year. Both these models are expected to be sold in India in mid-2014.
We had a feeling that these motorcycles are bound to be launched in India. Few weeks ago, we had reported a scoop about the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the ER-6 to be displayed at their exclusive Pune showroom.
The Versys 1000 is from Kawasaki’s adventure range of motorcycles. This litre-class machine is powered by a four-stroke in-line-four 1043cc liquid- cooled engine that churns out 118bhp at 9000 rpm and 101Nm at 7700 rpm. The engine is tuned for good throttle response and strong torque at all rpms, especially in the lower middle range. It gets an aluminium twin-tube frame which is lightweight and highly rigid. Being an adventure motorcycle, it gets a windscreen that can be adjusted without any tools and just two knobs.
The ER-6n is the naked version of the Ninja 650 that is currently being sold in India. It gets a 649cc liquid-cooled four-stroke parallel twin engine that develops 72bhp at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 64Nm at 7000 rpm. The engine of the bike is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Once launched, the ER-6n is sure to be sold in India through the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route just like the Ninja 650. This route will help the Japanese manufacturer price this bike competitively.
Stay tuned to BikeWale as we get you more details on the Versys 1000 and the ER-6n.
