Kawasaki Motors is one of the most aggressive motorcycle manufacturers in India and this clearly reflects from their sales chart. The company sold 1,480 motorcycles in 2014, registering a growth of 48 per cent in 2014 as compared to 2013, where it sold 1,000 units.
A major contribution came from the Ninja 300 and the Ninja 650, which are completely-knocked-down (CKD) units. The sales of the Ninja 300 stood at 700 units, whereas the Japanese manufacturer managed to sell 300 units of the Ninja 650. The Z250 and the ER6n were launched only three months ago, and henceil, the calendar year end sales stood at 50 units and 80 units respectively.
The other major contributors were the completely-built-up (CBU) units. Kawasaki sells the Z800, Z1000, Ninja ZX-10R, Ninja ZX-14R and the Ninja 1000 in India. While the litre-class super sport motorcycles do a fair job, the Z series is one of the highest sales generators for the company. It recently slashed the price of the Z800 by Rs 55,000 making it a very attractive buy over its closest competitor, the Triumph Street Triple.
India Kawasaki Motors will launch the Versys 1000 and the Ninja H2 this year. The company was missing a product in the adventure sport touring segment and with the success of the Triumph Tiger series, the Japanese manufacturer took the decision to bring this bike to India.
