India Kawasaki Motors will be launching a new super sport motorcycle for the Indian market on September 4. Previous reports suggested that the company is gearing up to launch both the Ninja ZX-10R and the ZX-14R s motorcycles in India. However, there is a possibility only one of the two will be launched this Wednesday, while the other will be launched during the festive season.
If both the motorcycles –the Kawasaki ZX-10R and the ZX-14R motorcycles are launched, they are likely to be priced at Rs 15 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively and will be brought to India through completely-built-unit (CBU) route. At this price point, the number of buyers is limited but Bajaj-Kawasaki alliance wants to make its presence more visible in the premium motorcycle segment. The company already sells the Ninja 300 and the Ninja 650 in India through completely-knocked-down (CKD) route and with the addition of these two machines; it is will fill the 1000cc and 1400cc segment. Both the motorcycles will be sold through Bajaj’s Pro-Biking dealership and will be available only in selected regions during the initial days.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is Japanese company’s flagship model and is powered by a 998cc inline-four liquid cooled engine that develops 197PS and is mated to six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features the S-KTRC (Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control) system making this machine a perfect track tool.
The Ninja ZX-14R on the other hand is one of the fastest production motorcycles in the world and is powered by 1441cc inline-four liquid cooled engine. It is sold in the American market with the optional ABS, but we are not sure if the company will launch this variant in India.
