Kawasaki introduced the street-legal mini moto Z125 Pro to the world recently. This small, light 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder ‘Z’ appears to be directly aimed at Honda’s popular Grom. It has been launched in Indonesia for IDR 29.9million (Rs 1.52 lakh).
Taking its design cues from the bigger bikes in Kawasaki’s ‘Z’ series naked sports bikes, with the sharp and aggressive styling. Compact engine shrouds contribute to the bike’s hourglass figure as well as its overall design. The side shrouds also offer a degree of wind and road protection. The instrument cluster features an analogue tachometer and an LCD digital display for all of the other required information.
The Z125 Pro is powered by a horizontally-placed 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine with SOHC and four-valves, which produces 9.2bhp at 7,500rpm, and 9.4Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Mated to the Z125 Pro’s engine is a four-speed manual-shift transmission. The mini moto is equipped with a 30mm inverted front fork, which offers 100mm of stroke. The rear comes with a single offset shock absorber on the swing arm. The 12-inch cast aluminium wheels, which cut down on unsprung weight and are wrapped in 100/90 and 120/70 tyres front and rear.
Kawasaki India have done a great job of offering almost all their global models in our country. Which means, we could see the Z125 Pro sitting alongside the KLX110 in a Kawasaki showroom in India.
