Kawasaki has been testing the KLX 230 S in India for quite some time. The Japanese bike maker is looking at heavily localising the dual sport motorcycle to launch it at an aggressive price tag. Here’s everything you should know about the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S.
What’s new?
The 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S features a new sub-frame allowing more suspension travel and a longer seat. It also gets new graphics and is available in two paint schemes – Kawasaki Green and grey. The motorcycle also features revised bodywork to make it look fresh and up-to-date with the competition.
Styling
The new KLX 230 S features authentic dual-sport styling. It sports a bikini fairing, long flat seat, tall peak front fender, and a minimalist tail section. It has a fairly tall saddle height of 830mm while the ground clearance stands at 210mm.
Specifications
Besides the visual changes, the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S continues to remain unchanged mechanically. It is powered by a 233cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that pumps out 19.73bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 20.3Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine will be paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Cycle parts
The dual-sport motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. These are wrapped in dual-purpose knobby tyres. Meanwhile, disc brakes at both ends carry out the braking tasks. The motorcycle is suspended on telescopic forks up front and a linked monoshock at the back.
Launch timeline and price
The new Kawasaki KLX 230 S will be launched in India in October 2024. It is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete against the Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
