- Select dealers are accepting bookings
- Booking amount varies dealer-wise
- Likely to be priced close to Rs. 3 lakh (on-road)
Kawasaki India is all set to launch a new product on 17 October and, in all likelihood, this will be the KLX 230 S that has been spotted undergoing test runs on many occasions. Ahead of the official launch, some Kawasaki dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings of the motorcycle. The booking amount varies dealer-wise and ranges between Rs. 10,000-25,000. Since the confirmed pricing of the bike is not yet available, the booking amount is refundable.
The KLX 230 S is a dual-purpose motorcycle inclined more toward off-roading. It received subtle changes this year and Kawasaki should launch the 2024 iteration in our country. The overall design of the KLX is more about form than function. It gets minimal bodywork, a high-set front fender and exhaust, and a flat motocross-style seat. Similarly, the bike is basic on the feature front with switchable ABS and a small LCD. The display gets Bluetooth connectivity though.
The 2024 model continues to be underpinned by a perimeter steel frame but the sub-frame has been redesigned to accommodate a bigger seat and longer travel for the suspension setup. It rides on a 21-18-inch spoke wheel combination that is shod with dual-purpose tyres and brought to a halt by a single disc at both ends. It is powered by a 233cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that pumps out 19.73bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 20.3Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine will be paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The Kawasaki KLX 230 S is supposed to be a direct rival to the Hero Xpulse 200 4V. However, our dealer sources are guessing the on-road price for the former might exceed Rs. 3 lakh which will position it closer it to the Yezdi Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
