Kawasaki India finally revealed the asking price for the KLX 230 recently. While the KLX 230 has also turned out to be expensive, it still can be a promising beginner’s dual-sport bike. So, if you plan to purchase it despite the high asking price, here are five things you should know about it.
Design
The Kawasaki KLX 230 has a very slim and rugged design with a purposeful build. It sports a flat hexagonal headlight with a plastic cowl around it and gets a narrow seat with an upswept exhaust. Kawasaki offers the KLX 230 in two colours - Lime Green and Battle Grey. The bike is quite lightweight and should make for a fun commuter to ride without worrying about breaking a lot of parts if crashed. Moreover, the KLX’s compact dimensions should help beginners learn off-road or dirt riding as well on it.
Features
Besides the halogen illumination, the Kawasaki KLX 230 is basic overall. It gets an LCD, switchable dual-channel ABS, and that’s about it.
Engine
Kawasaki has powered the KLX 230 with a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 18.1bhp and 18.3Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. We spent a little time riding the bike a couple of months ago and here is our experience.
Hardware
The KLX 230 rides on long travel telescopic front forks and a monoshock. Its braking setup includes a front and rear disc mounted on a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel wrapped in road-biased tyres.
Price
The asking price for the Kawasaki KLX 230 is set at Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the Hero Xpulse 200 4V which costs almost half of what the KLX does.
