- New KLX 300 unveiled
- Gets bigger engine
- New bodywork
Kawasaki has just unveiled a brand new dual-sport motorcycle – the KLX300. This bike replaces the famous KLX250 but claims to carry forward the same fun and excitement level.
The KLX300 gets revised styling, thanks to the addition of new sharp front cowl and headlight design. The ruggedness comes from off-road style fender and the round-shaped mirrors. The digital instrument cluster is new and shows ride data like clock, dual-trip meters, tachometer and some warning lights.
Powering this dual-sport is a 292cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder motor. This unit is mated to a five-speed gearbox and has a strong mid-range. The engine also features cam profiles borrowed from the KLX 300R off-road model, an electrofusion cylinder and ultra-hard coating in the aluminum cylinder. As a result, the throttle response is crisp.
The KLX300 rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels for excellent off-road use. The braking performance comes from a twin-piston caliper up front with 250mm disc and a single-piston caliper at the back with 240mm disc.
The KLX300 is available in two colour options – green and grey. This bike is perfect for Indian road conditions. But Kawasaki India won’t bring it to India due to the small size of the segment. But even if the company plans to bring this to India, it will be priced extremely high making it a pointless purchase.
