Kawasaki has introduced another off-road motorcycle, the KLX450R along with the KLX450F in India today. Priced at Rs 8.49 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), the KLX450R is the most expensive dirt-bike in India.
The KLX450R is classified as the enduro motorcycle as it has been developed to be ridden on trails, deserts and forests unlike the KX450F which is a proper competition bike. The KLX450R gets electric start, full digital instrumentation that shows speed, two tripmeters, odometer and a clock. Being a road legal bike, it also gets headlight and LED taillight.
The KLX450R gets a 449cc liquid-cooled single cylinder motor with carburetion. This motor is enclosed in the perimeter frame that has been designed to take the abuses that comes from enduro riding. The suspension duties are taken care of by 48mm upside-down forks with compression and rebound adjustability in the front and monoshock with adjustable spring preload at the back. The stopping power comes from a single 250mm disc with dual piston caliper in the front and a single 240mm disc with single-piston caliper at the back.
In order to make it long-distance friendly, the Japanese manufacturer has equipped the KLX450R with an 8-litres fuel tank. It has a ground clearance of 315mm which is quite good for a bike in this segment. The KLX450R weighs 126kg making it one of the lightest in the segments.
Kawasaki dealers have started accepting bookings for this motorcycle. It is sold as a completely-built-up (CBU) unit which attracts high custom duties.
