Kawasaki has expanded its off-road bike portfolio with the launch of the KX450F in India. This motocross bike comes with a whopping price tag of Rs 7.97 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and is not road legal.
The KX450F is known for its lightweight and agile nature, which makes it one of the most sought after motocross bikes. Built around a perimeter frame, the 2017 KX450F is an improved version of the older model. It gets better suspension package, new swingarm and a few cosmetic tweaks that has also improved the overall durability of the components.
The motor is a 449 single cylinder with DOHC setup and liquid-cooling. It has been tuned to churn out power in a crisp fashion. Being an off-road bike, most of the power is concentrated in the mid-range. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. The braking duties on the KX450F is taken care of by a single 270mm petal disc with a dual piston caliper in the front and 240mm disc with single-piston caliper at the back. It gets a fuel tank capacity of 6 litres and tips the scale at just 108kg.
The bookings for the new Kawasaki KX450F have already begun at all showrooms. The bike is being sold as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit from Japan. Due to lack of headlight, indicators and tail light, the KX450F can’t be ridden on the road and hence, there’s no need to pay for registration.
