India Kawasaki Motors (IKM) is set to launch a long due facelift version of the Ninja 1000. The bike which has already been launched in international markets features a sharper design, which now has more Ninja family DNA. At first glance, one may even mistake it for the new Ninja 650.
In the UK, the 1043cc in-line four cylinder engine delivers 140bhp and 111Nm of torque and we expect it to be similar in India. The 2017 Ninja 1000 features a new instrument cluster, 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) with riding aids such as traction control, cornering management system and ABS. The bike also features three power modes for different conditions.
On the other hand, a base version of the Z900 will also be launched. A feature-loaded version of the Z900 was launched in March, packing a host of accessories like a radiator guard, fork slider, 12V power socket, rear seat cowl, tank pad and an instrument cluster cover with a hint of carbon fibre. While this model sported a price tag of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the base version to be more affordable to compete with new threats like the Triumph Street Triple 765.
