Kawasaki has unveiled a new limited edition variant of the Ninja 400 ABS. Like the standard variant of the motorcycle, the Ninja 400 ABS Limited Edition will be available only in Japan and comes in a gloss black livery with golden pinstripes.
Japan’s draconian regulations regarding technical inspections of motorcycles have led to the conception of a number of unique motorcycles, like this Ninja 400. In Japan, it is a lot more complicated for large displacement motorcycles to clear the technical inspections than small capacity ones. This has resulted in a high demand for such small displacement, yet striking looking motorcycles, which aren’t very complicated to maintain once the customer has bought the motorcycle.
While this Japan-specific model might look strikingly similar to the Ninja 650, it is actually powered by a smaller 399cc parallel twin engine. This is a downsized shorter stroke version of the ER-6n engine, which delivers 43bhp and 37Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission. ABS is offered as a standard fitment. Priced at 7.5 lakh Yen (Rs 3.99 lakh), the Ninja 400 ABS Limited Edition will be produced in a limited run of just 300 units.
