-Ninja 400 removed from Kawasaki India website
-Ninja 500 and Ninja 400 were priced the same
-Ninja 300 continues to be on sale in India
Kawasaki has discontinued the Ninja 400 in India. The supersport was on sale for a while, following the launch of the new Ninja 500 in India, till there were stocks. The Ninja 500 now replaces the Ninja 400 in our market as it does in the International markets as well.
The Ninja 400 was a lovely supersport bike and was ideally supposed to replace the Ninja 300 in India. However, following the part localisation of the Ninja 300, Kawasaki managed to price the bike aggressively and that helped with sustained demand for the bike. The Ninja 400, however, was brought to the country as a CBU and was hence priced at a point that wasn’t very logical and feasible for the enthusiast to purchase. Perhaps, this is why the Ninja 300 is still on the market, despite its age, while the Ninja 400 is no longer available.
We liked the Ninja 400 for its design, its communicative chassis, and the refined, parallel-twin engine that had enough go in the mid and the top range to keep one properly entertained.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 takes over the charge from the Ninja 400 and it has a new and larger displacement, parallel-twin engine. The bike also gets a new design for the front and rear ends, and a new digital LCD with Bluetooth connectivity, However, we wish that Kawasaki would’ve brought the Ninja 500 SE variant to our shores as it gets the better-looking Kawasaki green colour and a modern, TFT display.
We also wish that Kawasaki would’ve ditched the CBU route to bring the Ninja 500 and instead worked on localising the bike to quite an extent, like the Ninja 300, to priced it more aggressively.
