Kawasaki India has finally introduced the Ninja 400 in the India. Priced at Rs 4.69 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), the Ninja 400 is almost Rs 1.09 lakhs more expensive than the Ninja 300.
Unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the Ninja 400 was supposed to replace the Ninja 300 globally, but the Ninja 300 will continue to sell in India. Kawasaki India says the Ninja 400 will cater to the buyers who are looking to buy a sportsbike between 300cc and 650cc.
The Ninja 400 draws inspiration from Kawasaki’s flagship superbike, the Ninja ZX-10R. The Japanese manufacturer has equipped the Ninja 400 with LED headlamp, position lamps and tail lamp. The body panels on the Ninja 400 aren’t just bigger, but sharper too. The Ninja 400 is built around a new chassis which is lighter and stiffer than the Ninja 300, which is expected to offer great handling.
The other major update on this bike is its engine, the 399cc parallel-twin. This motor churns out 47.5bhp and 38Nm of peak power. Despite the increase in displacement, the overall weight of the engine has reduced by one kilogram. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Slipper-clutch comes as standard on the Ninja 400. The Ninja 400 rides on 41mm telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking duties are taken care of by a 310mm front disc and 220mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard.
The Ninja 400 is available only in KRT edition and in limited numbers. The bike is being assembled at Kawasaki’s Chakan plant and sold through all Kawasaki dealerships.
