Kawasaki recently launched the new Ninja 500 in India as a successor to the Ninja 400. On paper, the new offering is better than its predecessor on many fronts but carries the same price tag. In that case, let’s check out some of the key details of the Ninja 500 along with its pictures.
While the stance of the Ninja 500 is similar to its 400cc sibling, the former looks bulkier and more muscular with a larger front fascia and layered side fairing.
The motorcycle is available in a single colour option called Metallic Spark Black and the signature green KRT trim hasn’t made it to our shores yet.
On the feature front, it comes equipped with a negative LCD dash with smartphone connectivity for communication alerts, and riding logs. Besides, an LED headlamp and tail lamp are also on offer.
Powering the bike is a new 451cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45bhp at 9,000rpm and 42.6Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. This unit comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.
This powerplant clings onto a steel trellis frame that rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and is suspended by telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a single disc at both ends.
The Ninja 500 comes equipped with a sizeable 14-litre fuel tank while its kerb weight stands at 171kg.
With a price tag of Rs. 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom), the Ninja 500 is priced the same as the Ninja 400. However, in comparison to its closest rivals including the Yamaha YZF-R3 and Aprilia RS457, Kawasaki’s latest offering is considerably more expensive.
