The Kawasaki Ninja H2 has been launched in India at Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Besides being the only supercharged motorcycle in the Indian market, the Ninja H2 is also the Japanese manufacturer’s fastest and most expensive motorcycle sold here.
The Ninja H2 is based on a tubular trellis frame, just like its track-only counterpart, the Ninja H2R. Aerodynamics have played a major role in shaping up the design of the motorcycle, to improve air flow around the motorcycle as well as to aid cooling of the supercharged engine. The partly exposed frame is painted in Kawasaki’s trademark green, while the bodywork is finished in a silver mirror paint finish, which lends a premium appeal to the motorcycle.
The Ninja H2 is powered by the same 998cc inline four supercharged engine from the Ninja H2R, though this one is rated at ‘just’ 200 horsepower. Suspension duties are taken care of by fully adjustable KYB units at both the ends, while the braking hardware is made up of 330mm Brembo semi-floating discs at the front and 250mm units at the rear.
Being a flagship motorcycle, the Ninja H2 comes with the entire lot of electronic wizardry that Kawasaki has on offer. The electronics package includes a three-mode traction control, a three-mode launch control, engine brake control with KIBS intelligent braking system and a quick shifter.
Despite borrowing its name from the original H2 from the 1970s, the Ninja H2 is a truly radical motorcycle, which has brought a revolutionary change in the litre-class superbike segment. While it might not be the fastest bike in its lot, partly because of its hefty weight of 238 kilograms, its astronomically high price tag and limited allocation for India should ensure that the Ninja H2 will be a very exclusive motorcycle. The Ninja H2 competes with the other high-end litre-class superbikes like the BMW S1000RR, Aprilia RSV4 Factory and the Ducati 1299 Panigale.
