We had recently reported that Kawasaki might launch the Ninja H2 motorcycle in India, around the second half of next year. Now, it seems that the Indonesian market will also get the company’s flagship motorcycle around the same time. A report from an Indonesian blog reveals that Kawasaki dealers in the country have started accepting bookings for the Ninja H2 and that the motorcycle will be priced at IDR 580 million (Rs 29.25 lakh).
Kawasaki revealed the Ninja H2 last month, at the 2014 EICMA Show in Milan. Nothing short of an engineering marvel, the Ninja H2 is powered by a 998cc supercharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 207bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed dog-ring transmission, a technology which is a derivative of MotoGP technology.
Indonesia, like India, has a very draconian tax structure which heavily taxes imported vehicles. While the motorcycle is priced at USD 25,000 (Rs 15.47 lakh) in the US market, the heavy import taxes mean that the Indonesia customers might have to shell out almost Rs 30 lakh to own the Ninja H2. Even in India, the Ninja H2 will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU), and is expected to retail in the Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh price bracket. At this price point the Ninja H2 will rival the likes of Aprilia RSV4 Factory and the BMW HP4.
