- Leaked patent images reveal the radar cruise control system
- Radar tech to be sourced from Bosch
- Likely to debut on Ninja H2 SX
Leaked patent images confirm that Kawasaki would soon introduce a radar-based cruise control system on its motorcycles. Kawasaki had joined hands with Bosch in November last year and the Japanese brand is expected to introduce a motorcycle with the radar-based cruise control system in 2021.
Kawasaki has not confirmed the model name that will use the radar-based cruise control system but the patents suggest that we may see the tech on the Ninja H2 SX. The hardware, as seen in the patent images, will occupy the space in the dummy air intake (fig. 60) of the motorcycle.
Considering the touring nature of the Ninja H2 SX, the tech suits the motorcycle. The system, however, should not be limited to just one product, and Kawasaki may implement the technology on other motorcycles.
Apart from Kawasaki, brands like Ducati, KTM and BMW are also working with Bosch to launch their respective motorcycles with the radar-based cruise control system. BMW Motorrad recently made an official announcement about its Active Cruise Control (ACC) system. The ACC tech from BMW automatically regulates the speed set by the rider and the distance to the vehicle driving in front. Expect the system from Kawasaki and other brands to work similarly.
