- Celebrates 40th anniversary of Ninja brand
- Gets a livery inspired by championship-winning Ninja ZXR-7
Kawasaki has taken the wraps off the new 40th anniversary special edition model of its exotic supersport, the Ninja ZX-4RR, for the international markets. With this iteration, the company is celebrating the inception of the iconic Ninja brand in 1984 while its special livery pays homage to the Ninja ZXR-7 that won several racing championships in the 1990s.
The motorcycle bears visual differences over the standard Ninja ZX-4RR while being mechanically identical. It sports a vibrant combination of green, white and blue shades with green alloy wheels and a large ‘Kawasaki’ brand name running across the fairing. It also gets the ’40th anniversary’ sticker on the fuel tank to convey its distinctiveness. The sinister-looking bodywork, however, remains identical to standard 4RR.
The highlight of the motorcycle continues to be its unique engine configuration. Although the displacement stands at just 399cc, there are four cylinders in inline fashion concertedly belting out 76bhp at 14,000rpm and 37.6Nm of peak torque at 12,000rpm. The six-speed gearbox comes mated to a slipper clutch along with a bi-directional quick shifter. Other electronic aids include four riding modes (Sports, Road, Rain, and Rider), two power modes (full and low), a three-level traction control system, and dual-channel ABS. Moreover, Kawasaki has equipped the bike with a 4.3-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster which is Bluetooth enabled.
Kawasaki is unlikely to launch this version of the motorcycle in India. However, the Japanese bike maker does retail the standard Ninja ZX-4R on our shores at an exorbitant price of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
