Kawasaki has launched the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja ZX10RR in India at Rs 12.80 lakhs and Rs 16.10 lakhs respectively. (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi)
Prices for both the models have been dropped by nearly Rs 6 lakhs. The bikes will now arrive via the SKD (semi-knocked down) route and be assembled at Kawasaki’s plant in Chakan, Pune. However, these prices are introductory and are on offer till the end of July, this year.
While the standard bike only gets the KRT (Kawasaki Racing Team) colour scheme, the Ninja ZX-10RR is only available in matte black. Both bikes are powered by a 998 cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder engine which produces 197bhp at 13,000 rpm and peak torque of 113.5Nm at 11,500rpm.
The electronic package consists of the Kawasaki Sports Traction Control (S-KTRC) system with five modes, 5-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), ABS, launch control and an engine braking control system. The Ninja ZX-10 RR additionally gets Marchesini forged wheels and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
The Ninja ZX-10R is now the most affordable litre-class superbike in India retailing at nearly Rs 4 lakhs lesser than the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade which costs Rs 16.79 lakhs. It also competes with the BMW S1000RR priced at Rs 17.90 lakhs, Suzuki GSX-R1000 which costs 19.80 lakhs and the Yamaha YZF-R1 priced at Rs 18.16 lakhs.
