Kawasaki India has announced the launch of the 2021 Ninja ZX-10R that will rival the likes of Ducati Panigale V4, BMW S1000RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000R, and the Yamaha YZF-R1. The updated model features a styling revision along with an improved electronics package for 2021. Here we list the top five highlights of the 2021 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R BS6.
Engine
The 2021 model has received mechanical upgrades to comply with the new, more stringent emission norms. The BS6-compliant 998cc, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine makes 200bhp (210bhp with RAM Air) of maximum power at 13,200rpm and a peak torque output of 114Nm at 11,400rpm. The motor is linked to a six-speed transmission. Kawasaki says that the Ninja ZX-10R’s gear ratios were idealised for circuit riding. The updated engine on the 2021 model also benefits from finger follower valve actuation system and a new air-cooled oil cooler based on feedback from Kawasaki’s World SBK race motorcycle.
Design
The BS6-compliant Ninja ZX-10R gets a revised design that is sharper than its predecessor. The styling cues include a twin-pod headlight, aerodynamic winglets built into the upper cowl for added downforce, a new tail cowl, an updated handlebar and footpeg positions, and the Kawasaki River Mark. The updated handlebar and footpeg positions are claimed to deliver a more aggressive, circuit-focussed riding position. Kawasaki will offer the motorcycle in two colour options – Lime Green and Flat Ebony Type 2.
Features
The latest iteration of the motorcycle also gets updated features. The lighting on the 2021 model, for example, are full-LED while the 4.3-inch TFT colour instrumentation is Bluetooth-enabled and it works with Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY THE APP. The updated electronic rider aids include electronic cruise control, traction control system, launch control, cornering management function, power modes, riding modes, engine brake control, intelligent ABS, Öhlins electronic steering damper, and a bidirectional quick-shifter.
Hardware
The 2021 model is built around an aluminium twin-spar frame and uses an aluminium swingarm. The suspension setup includes Showa BFF (Balance Free Front Fork) and a horizontal back-link rear suspension with Showa BFRC (Balance Free Rear Cushion) lite. The anchoring duties are handled by dual, semi-floating 330mm discs with dual radial-mount, Brembo M50 monobloc, opposed four-piston callipers at the front and a 220mm single rotor with a single-bore pin-slide calliper at the back. The Ninja ZX-10R BS6 tips the weighing scale at 207kg (kerb).
Price
The BS6-compliant Ninja ZX-10R has been launched at an ex-showroom (India) price tag of Rs 14,99,000.
