Here are patent images of what looks to be the next-gen Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R. According to the international source, the ZX-14R is set to be Kawasaki’s first model to get cornering light technology.
Although not confirmed, the three lights on each side of the centre headlight in the front view are the cornering lights. In the patent drawing below one can see that the top light on each side is the first to light up automatically when the bike is leaned over. If the lean angle increases the lights are set to come on to light up more of the road through the corner.
Recently, the cornering light technology has been seen on many cars but, this will be only the second motorcycle to feature it after the
KTM 1290 Super Adventure. The unit seen on the 1290 is not as advanced as the upcoming system on the 14R. Kawasaki will have a task on its hand as it will have to keep this system as light as possible as performance motorcycles require to be lightweight, especially in the front end where this unit will be placed.
There is no denying how this technology will substantially help lighting up the road through the corner. Moreover, it will probably look pretty cool doing it too!
