- Gets a Euro 5-compliant engine
- Features a redesigned headlight
- Is equipped with a new TFT screen
In May, there were rumors of the Kawasaki ZX-6R making a comeback. Now, the Japanese middleweight has been re-launched in the UK and has received a set of new updates in its latest trim. Here’s what we know about it.
For 2023, the Kawasaki has updated the ZX-6R with a revised fascia. The LED headlight has been redesigned and looks more in form with Kawasaki’s current Ninja line. It’s topped by a transparent visor. Completing the 6R’s sporty demeanour are clip-on handlebars along with sharp bodywork. Apart from the headlight unit, Kawasaki has also tweaked other features on the ZX-6R. It now gets a Bluetooth-compatible TFT that offers call and SMS notifications and navigation updates.
The latest generation of the Kawasaki ZX-6R is powered by a Euro 5-compliant, 636cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four motor that dishes out 128bhp and 69Nm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a quickshifter as well. Whether it is a bi-directional unit or an up-only quickshifter is yet to be known.
Kawasaki has suspended the Ninja ZX-6R on fully adjustable Showa USD front forks and a rear shock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises dual 310mm front discs and a single 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These brakes are mounted on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear Pirelli Diablo Rosso 4 tyres.
The safety net has also been enhanced and the Japanese supersport now comes with four riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, and rider-adaptable), traction control and ABS.
Kawasaki has priced the ZX-6R at GBP 10,599 (approximately Rs. 10.89 lakh sans taxes). Considering the upwards trend in large-capacity motorcycles and the void of the middleweight supersport segment in India, Kawasaki could possibly bring the Ninja ZX-6R here.
