Kawasaki introduced its middleweight supersport motorcycle, the Ninja ZX-6R in India at Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom) recently. Apart from the ZX-6R, the market offers nine other motorcycles in that price range. Here’s what the list looks like-
If you are looking for a full-faired motorcycle, you will find the Ninja ZX-6R’s touring-focused sibling, the Ninja 1000 in Kawasaki’s showroom itself. Carrying a price tag of Rs 9.99 lakhs, the Ninja 1000 also poses as a rival to the ZX-6R. You can read about the differences between the two HERE.
On the other end of the spectrum are streetfighters and this list features four such motorcycles. There is the MT-09, a radical looking streetfighter from Yamaha priced at Rs 10.88 lakhs. Powering the MT-09 is an 847cc in-line three cylinder engine that puts out 111bhp and 87.5Nm of torque. Ducati offers the Monster 821 with a price tag of Rs 9.51 lakhs. The bike with its muscular tank, beefy exhausts and front forks evokes a brutishly attractive appeal. And under the exposed trellis frame is a 821cc, L-twin motor that produces 107bhp and 86Nm of torque.
You can also have the Triumph Street Triple RS at Rs 11.13 lakhs. The bike sports distinctive looking twin headlamps, an exposed sub frame and a svelte rear. It is also loaded to the brim with electronic aids. The RS uses a 765cc, inline-three cylinder motor; similar to the standard Street Triple. However, this motor produces a higher 121bhp of power and 77Nm of torque.
Triumph also offers three motorcycles from its modern-classic range. There is the Bonneville Bobber and Bonneville Speedmaster which retail at Rs 10.38 lakhs and Rs 11.41 lakhs respectively. The Bobber like its namesake sports a hardtail bobber styling and oodles of chrome reminiscent of the ‘70s. Now, the Speedmaster is based on the Bobber but gets a sweptback handlebar and forward set foot pegs for a relaxed riding position. Additionally, it also gets a pillion seat as standard. Both motorcycles are powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin engine that puts out 76bhp and 106Nm of torque.
The other motorcycle from Triumph's Bonneville range is the T120. The motorcycle exudes a classic appeal and gets a styling inspired by Bonneville racers from the late 60s. It is powered by a 1200cc, parallel-twin motor that is good for 78.9bhp and 105Nm of torque.
And finally on this list are two American cruisers, the Indian Scout Sixty and Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight. The Indian Scout Sixty offers a relaxed riding position and sports blacked-out components and the chrome, although minimal completes its traditional American cruiser styling. The bike uses a 999cc, V-twin that produces 88Nm of torque. The Scout Sixty is priced at Rs 10.99 lakhs, making it the most affordable offering from Indian here. The Harley-Davidson Forty Eight is a city-cruiser and offers a slightly upright riding position thanks to its straight handlebars and forward-set foot pegs. Under its peanut shaped tank is a 1202cc, V-Twin engine that puts out 60bhp and 96Nm of torque. The Forty-Eight will cost you Rs 11.04 lakhs.
All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai.
