Kawasaki Racing Team officially took the wraps off its 2015 World Superbike Team at an event in Barcelona, Spain. The company also revealed the 2015 Ninja ZX-10R racebike’s livery for the first time, which prominently features Monster, Motocard and Elf branding.
Kawasaki and Monster have been long associated with each other in motocross and supercross, and in 2015, this association has further expanded into road racing. Besides these, the bike also features sponsorship from Akrapovic, Bubel, MRA and the winter test sponsor Vialser.
For the 2015 season, KRT has fielded 2013 champion Tom Sykes and ex-Honda racer Jonathan Rea. Kawasaki had a good run in 2014, as it finished as the runner-up in the overall manufacturer’s standings. With eight wins in the 2014 season, Sykes finished second overall, mere six points behind the champion, Sylvain Guintoli. 2015 presents new challenges for all teams owing to the significant change in technical regulations.
Speaking at the event, Guim Roda, KRT team manager said, “We have a special relationship with Kawasaki, working with them for many years and in 2013 winning the title, and finishing second last year. We have consolidated this project together with Kawasaki and we are very happy to have the confidence of a company like Kawasaki. Confidence not only the team but also all the people who contribute, especially the suppliers who help us make this job.”
