After launching four bikes in India last month, Kawasaki is gearing up for more action in the premium bike space. The company will launch the 2017 Z250 and the Z1000 on April 22, 2017.
The 2017 Z250 and the Z1000 are expected to get a few updates in the form of a BS-IV compliant engine and also aesthetic changes. While the official launch invite reveals no details about the kind of changes incorporated into these bikes, we believe that both bikes will be launched with new paint schemes and decals.
The Z250, which was launched in 2014, didn’t get the kind of sales Kawasaki was expecting. In fact, it is one of the lowest selling Kawasaki models in India. The lack of competitive pricing and availability of fast and affordable streetfighters in India didn’t bode well for this parallel-twin Japanese bike. But now, with Bajaj out of the picture, the Z250 could find some takers if Kawasaki manages to price the 2017 version aggressively.
Kawasaki will launch two versions of the Z1000 on April 22 – Z1000 STD and Z1000 HG(High Grade). While the former would get new paint scheme, the latter could also get additional accessories like larger windscreen, radiator guards and power socket. The previous version of the Z1000 missed out on traction control system. However, its touring sibling, the Ninja 1000, does get this equipment. Will Kawasaki equip the Z1000 HG with that safety technology? Let’s find out on April 22.
