Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Kawasaki has announced its plans to launch a new model in India on 7 July 2017. Although the company officials have been tightlipped about the upcoming motorcycle,we believe that the new motorcycle might be a BS-IV compliant version of either the Ninja 1000 or the Versys 1000.
The Ninja 1000 has been due for an update for quite a while now and is based on the Z1000SX. Recently, the Z1000 received fresh upgrades in the international market,in form of a revised front fairing that offers better aerodynamics and engine cooling. The bike continues to be powered by a 1043cc in-line four-cylinder engine that generates138bbhp at 10,000rpm and 111Nm of torque at 7,300rpm. The new model is likely to be the new Kawasaki Ninja Z1000SX.
Currently, all the BS-III versions of the Versys 1000 in India have been sold out. If the new 2017 model is introduced in India, along with the BS-IV update, the bike will also get windscreen protector with two inches of tool-free adjustment option, gear position indicator and a single paint update – likely to be metallic spark black with red decals. The bike will continue to get 1,043cc four-cylinder engine that generates 116bhp at 9,000rpm and 102Nm of torque at 7,700rpm.
Apart from these two bikes, Kawasaki has already introduced a BS-IV version for rest of the models. More details about the upcoming motorcycle and its price will be known in the days to come.
