After launching the KX100F and the KX250F motocross bikes in India last month, Kawasaki is gearing up to launch another new product – the KLX140.
The KLX140 has been designed for both - kids and adults. The bike is available in two versions – the KLX140L and the KLX140G. The former gets smaller wheels and less seat height, making it easy for kids to operate the motorcycle. On the other hand, the KLX140G gets bigger 21-inch wheel at the front and 18-inch at the rear. This increases the overall seat height.
This off-road motorcycle is powered by a 140cc singe-cylinder air-cooled engine. This high-revving engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel. The suspension duties are taken care of by a 33mm telescopic forks at the front and a link-type monoshock at the rear with five-way preload adjustability. Both side provides suspension travel of 180mm to take all the bad roads. The stopping power for the KLX140 comes from a 220mm petal disc at the front and 186mm disc at the rear.
While Kawasaki hasn’t mention which version they plan to introduce in India, we believe it will be the KLX140G. This model will cater to a young audience base who are looking to have some dirt riding fun. Unfortunately, just like the KLX100, this bike won’t come cheap. We’re expecting a price tag between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 3.4 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). It will be sold as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit and is not road legal, due to lack of headlight and indicators.
