Kawasaki has introduced a new naked version of the Ninja 300 supersports motorcycle, called Z300, at the EICMA Show. In true Kawasaki fashion, the launch of the Z300 was a well-kept secret and has come as a pleasant surprise for the biking community.
The Z300’s styling has been heavily influenced by the bigger Z machines from Kawasaki’s line-up. The Z300 is mechanically identical to the Ninja 300 and is built around a tubular steel frame. It is powered by the same parallel-twin engine which displaces 296cc, churning out a healthy 38.5bhp and 27Nm of torque, through a six-speed gearbox.
Suspension duties are performed by conventional 37mm telescopic forks at the front and a preload adjustable shock at the rear. Braking power is provided by a single 290mm petal disc at the front and a single 220mm disc in the rear. ABS is offered as an optional extra. The Z300 will be available in two paint schemes - green and metallic black or grey and metallic black.
Last month, Kawasaki launched the Z250 in the Indian market at Rs 2.99 lakh. This means that we can rule out the possibility of the Z300 being sold in the Indian market for at least on more year, as this might cause cannibalism within the brand. Besides the Z300, Kawasaki has unveiled five new models, including the Ninja 250SL and Z250SL at the ongoing EICMA Show in Milan, Italy.
