Kawasaki India has launched its most-affordable model in our market, the W175. This retro-style motorcycle is available in two variants and the base model, which features Ebony paint, is priced at 1,47,000. The premium version, which boasts the bold Candy Persimmon Red colour, is available at Rs 1,49,000. The difference between the two options is limited to the paint themes.
The W175 will be the smallest-displacement, road-legal motorcycle in Kawasaki India’s portfolio. The motorcycle is powered by a BS6-compliant 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers a maximum output of 12.8bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 13.2Nm at 6,000rpm. This motor is linked to a five-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle is built around a double-cradle chassis and it uses telescopic front forks and twin rear springs to handle the suspension tasks. The anchoring hardware comprises a single 270mm petal-type rotor at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the back while the safety net includes a single-channel ABS. The feature list is basic and the Kawasaki W175 uses a halogen-type headlight, a halogen taillight, conventional turn indicators, and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
The new Kawasaki W175 competes in the same price range as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin. The bookings of the motorcycle are open across the country and the deliveries should commence soon.
