- Priced at Rp 32.3 million (around Rs 1.64 lakhs)
- Available in four colour options
- Unlikely to come to India
With scramblers and flat-trackers gathering momentum in the current two-wheeler industry, Kawasaki has opted to make the best of it by launching the X175TR street scrambler-styled motorcycle in Indonesia. The motorcycle is available in two variants, Standard and SE, priced at Rp 29.9 million (around Rs 1.51 lakhs) and a new TR variant carrying a sticker price of Rp 32.3 million (about 1.64 lakhs).
The Japanese bike maker had introduced the W175 in the Indonesian market back in 2017. The company had earlier introduced a Café version as well, which is now accompanied by street scrambler versions. Keeping up with the retro-styling of street scramblers, the W175TR is a classic looking motorcycle with raised mudguards, long-travel suspension, dual-purpose tyres, upswept exhaust and braced handlebar hinting that the motorcycle should be able to take on mild off-roading.
The W175TR SE, on the other hand, has a more classic look in the form of chrome highlights on the instrument cluster and exhaust heat shield. It also receives a metal bash plate, ribbed seat, knee grips and retro graphics on the fuel tank.
As for the powertrain, the W175TR is powered by the same 177cc single-cylinder unit that powers the standard versions. The carburetted motor is capable of churning out 12.5bhp and 13.2Nm which comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It has telescopic forks up front and twin-shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by disc-drum setup, with no ABS even as an option.
Kawasaki is offering the W175TR with the choice of four colour options - ebony, yellow, white and green. Now, if you were thinking of purchasing this motorcycle any time soon, it would be an effort wasted, as Kawasaki is unlikely to bring the W175TR to India. The main reason behind it is that Kawasaki as a company is perceived as a premium brand in India and bringing a motorcycle like the W175TR will adversely affect the brand image.
