-New modern-classic bike sits above the W175
-Powered by a 233cc, single-cylinder engine
-Design inspired by the Kawasaki W1
The Kawasaki W230 modern-classic motorcycle has been introduced in global markets. The bike slots above the Kawasaki W175 and as the name suggests, it draws inspiration from the 1960’s Kawasaki W1.
The design of the bike is properly retro and quite charming to look at. From the round LED headlight, to the teardrop-shaped fuel tank and the curved fenders. There are other interesting details such as the retro-styled ‘W’ logo on the fuel tank and the graphics that contrast very well with the Metallic Ocean Blue colour. The W230 looks like a modern-classic in every sense of the word.
The bike employs a semi-double, cradle steel frame that is suspended by a 37mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It rides on an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by a 265mm disc at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear. ABS is standard. As for the features, the W230 has an LED headlight and a twin pod analog instrument cluster.
It is powered by a 233cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 18.98Nm at 5,800rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The Kawasaki W230 could make for an interesting addition to the India lineup. With the largely localised Kawasaki KLX 230 S expected to go on sale in India soon, a localised W230 would make for a great launch as well. It should give Kawasaki the ability to price the W230 competitively to take on the might of the Royal Enfiled Classic range.
Kawasaki already sells the W175 in India and the W230, in a localised form would make for a great value proposition, even more than the W175.
