Kawasaki seems to be working on something that looks like it will square up against its modern-classic rivals. Kawasaki could launch the Z900RS, a modern take on the 1970’s Kawasaki Z1, next year. These reports come from Japanese magazine, AutoBy, which is famous for its Kawasaki predictions.
The manufacturer had earlier trademarked the name Z900RS, further strengthening evidence about a similar bike in the making. The rendering shows that the Z900RS even has fake engine fins to replicate the old-school air-cooled look. The bike is based on the 2017 Kawasaki Z900 and shares the same engine. So we expect a retro bike with a 948cc, inline-four engine that produces 123bhp and 98Nm of torque. Talk about being legendary.
Until now Kawasaki’s only offering for retro fans has been the basic and slightly bland W800, which was recently discontinued. The bike is powered by a 773cc air-cooled parallel twin engine that churns out 46bhp at 6,500rpm and 60Nm of torque as low as 2,500rpm The launch of the refreshed Z900RS would be a delight for modern-classic enthusiasts.
The question remains whether this is just another prediction or if it is indeed leaked images of Kawasaki’s latest retro bike based on the manic 2017 Kawasaki Z900.The Z900 was recently launched in India at an incredible price of Rs 7.68 lakh.
