- Kawasaki Z H2 based on Ninja H2
- Gets streetfighter styliing
- Supercharged 998cc engine puts out 197bhp and 137Nm
Kawasaki has taken the wraps off its supercharged streetfighter motorcycle, the Z H2 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
As its name suggests, the Z H2 is based on the Ninja H2 and comes powered by a supercharged, 998cc, inline-four cylinder engine that puts out 197bhp at 11,000rpm and 137Nm at 8500rpm. While these numbers are similar to what the Ninja H2 offers, Kawasaki has revised the supercharger inlet and ram air intake so the Z H2 offers better low and mid-range torque to suit its character.
And to put a leash on all that power Kawasaki has equipped the Z H2 with riding modes- Sport, Road, Rain and Rider along with three power modes that restrict engine power. It also gets a six-axis IMU, launch control, traction control system and cruise control. Meanwhile, it employs Brembo M4 calipers with 290mm discs at the front and a 226mm disc at the rear for braking. Suspension duties, on the other hand, are taken care of by Showa Big Piston Forks upfront and a Showa monoshock at the rear.
The design of the Kawasaki Z H2 is quirky at first glance but a closer look reveals how the manufacturer has incorporated elements of the ‘Z’ family design. At the front, the Z H2 gets an aerodynamic semi-fairing which houses a full-LED headlamp that looks similar to the one on the Z400. The headlamp is flanked by large air intakes on either side along with LED turn indicators. The rest of the motorcycle’s design has been inspired by the Z900. It gets a muscular fuel tank and split-seat with the sharp tail section.
Now that the Z H2 has been revealed, it wouldn’t be long before it reaches international markets. We can expect Kawasaki to introduce the motorcycle in India too, sometime next year.
