Kawasaki has been the most aggressive motorcycle manufacturer in India when it comes to launching their products. In the last few months they have launched many motorcycles, some at a very aggressive price tag like the Z800. The Japanese manufacturer is ready to launch two new motorcycles for the Indian market tomorrow – the Z250 and the ER-6n.
The Z250 is a part of the “Z” family, which includes motorcycles that has the most aggressive styling. When we say aggressive, we mean out of the box design. From the Z family, the Z1000 came to the Indian shores last year, which was followed by the Z800 and now its youngest sibling- the Z250. The Z250 shares its design styling with its elder siblings and is expected to play a major role in the quarter-litre segment in the country.
The Z250 is powered by a 249cc parallel-twin liquid cooled fuel-injected engine, which is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This engine produces 33bhp at 11,000rpm, which is almost similar to the discontinued Ninja 250R.
The ER-6n on the other hand is the naked sibling of the most successful 650cc bike in India, the Ninja 650. This street fighter is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled four-stroke parallel twin engine that develops 72bhp at 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 64Nm at 7000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear-wheel via a chain drive.
Both the bikes won’t get ABS but we can expect the Japanese manufacturer to offer this as an option in future. The Z250 and the ER-6n will be sold in India through all pro-biking and Kawasaki dealerships via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route. We are expecting the Z250 to be priced close to Rs 3 lakh, whereas the ER-6n will demand a price between Rs 4.6 and Rs 5 lakh.
