Kawasaki has finally launched their latest quarter litre motorcycle, the Z250, in the Indian market at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Z250 is the third motorcycle in the highly successful “Z” family and is the most affordable.
The Z250 is a toned down version of the Z800 when it comes to looks and styling. There are certain features of the Z250 which look identical to the Z800 like the headlight assembly, tank design and the rear view mirrors. The Z250 has also taken few parts like the tail section, exhaust and the alloy wheels from the Ninja 300 – a way to keep costs in check.
The instrument console of the Z250 is identical to the one seen on the Ninja 300. Only changes are the backlight, which is amber in the Z250 and the font size is different too. With its sharp edgy styling, the Z250 is targeted towards buyers who are looking for an affordable yet premium naked street motorcycle.
The Z250 is powered by a 249cc parallel-twin liquid cooled fuel-injected engine, which is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This engine produces 33bhp at 11,000rpm, which is almost similar to the discontinued Ninja 250R.
The Kawasaki Z250 is available with only colour option for now and will be sold through pro-biking dealerships via the completely-knocked-down (CKD) route. We find the price of the Z250 to be on the higher side and at this price they should have atleast offered the ABS version.
