Kawasaki has launched their new naked motorcycle, the Z250SL, in the Indonesia market. It gets two variants – non-ABS priced at IDR 38.9 million (Rs 2.03 lakh) and ABS priced at IDR 44.9 million (Rs 2.34 lakh).
The Z250SL is more of a cross between the Z250 and the Ninja 250SL. The SL stands for sports light which is correct in case of this bike as it weighs 148kgs, thanks to the trellis frame and lack of fairing. The overall design cues are not very aggressive but the motorcycle has been designed to target young sport enthusiasts.
The Kawasaki Z250SL gets the same engine as the Ninja 250SL, a 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel-injected mill that produces 27.6bhp at 9700rpm and maximum torque of 23Nm at 8200rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Suspension duties will be handled by the 37mm telescopic forks at front and a uni-track linkage system at the rear. 263mm front disc and 193mm rear discs have been provided for braking.
Kawasaki Indonesia has started taking bookings for the bike and the deliveries have been promised starting from end of May. Kawasaki is planning to export this model from the Indonesian plant to Philippines and Malaysia as well. For the Indian market, this bike is a good offering considering the price, but India Kawasaki Motors is not planning to get this model to here anytime soon. But its elder sibling, the Z250 will be making its way to India soon.
