- Z400 under development
- Will get the Ninja 400 powertrain
-Likely to be unveiled at 2018 EICMA Show, Italy
Kawasaki is working on the naked version of the Ninja 400, which is touted to be called the Z400. This motorcycle is rumoured to be part of Kawasaki’s 2019 line-up and could be unveiled at the motorcycle show to be held later this year.
Kawasaki recently filed new emission documents with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) under the ‘ER400DK’ name. In Kawasaki terms, ER stands for naked motorcycle and the K is simply a reference to the 2019 model range. When the Kawasaki Z300 was registered, its internal code was the ER300BG.
The Z400 is likely to have the same performance figures as the Ninja 400. The 399cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor churns out 49bhp and 38Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and gets slipper-clutch as standard.
We’re expecting Kawasaki to showcase this bike to the world at the 2018 EICMA Show in Italy. Just like its fully-faired sibling, the Z400 will also make its way to India sometime next year.
