Kawasaki has launched a stripped-down variant of the Z900 at ₹ 7.68 lakh, ex-showroom. That makes it around Rs 1.5 lakh cheaper than the accessorised Z900 that has been on sale thus far. What the fully-loaded one gets is a bunch of accessories but the same amount of power, electronics and safety.
The higher-priced variant offers frame sliders, fork sliders, a tank pad, pillion seat cowl, radiator guard, 12V power socket, carbonfibre finish on the instrument cluster and a visor. These things have been deleted from the Z900 that was launched today. It was always an impressive machine, but the advent of the Triumph Street Triple 765 meant that it might not have offered enough value to a few prospective customers - but that is solved now.
The Z900 base variant still gets ABS and 123bhp from its four-cylinder 948cc motor. It is available with two paint schemes, green and black, and just black. It competes with the likes of the Triumph Street Triple 765 and Ducati Monster 797.
