The Kawasaki Z800 has been the highest-selling completely-built-up(CBU) motorcycle for Kawasaki. Its attractive price tag and inline-four motor has made it the choice among the streetfighter fans in India. But there’s a new motorcycle that replaces it – the Z900, which was recently launched at Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). But do note that the Z800 is still on sale in India but it might see a fall in sales, thanks to the new Z900.
The new Z900 gets Kawasaki’s Sugomi design. Few design traits from the Z1000 can be seen on this new Kawasaki.
Kawasaki is offering the Z900 with accessories only. The non-accessorized version will be launched when the Z800 is discontinued.
The Kawasaki Z900 gets its power from a 948cc inline-four engine which delivers 126bhp. The Z900 is 21kg lighter than the Z800, resulting into better power-to-weight ratio.
The instrument cluster shows a lot of data, however, the design and the quality doesn’t feel like it is from Kawasaki.
The bikini fairing looks almost like the one on the Z1000 but misses out on the LED projector headlamp.
The stopping power is taken care of by dual 300mm brake discs with four-piston callipers and a 250mm disc with single-piston calliper at the rear. ABS is standard and cannot be switched off.
